A connection between color, texture, value, and form— pairing and intertwining pieces that exist in different initial states.

In today’s culture, the idea of mixing textures and colors is everywhere—from electronic music to picking clothes out of your closet every morning. These pairings interest and fascinate me.  Growing up in a culture that mixes and matches everything, I’ve begun delving into my own experimentation with pairing these formal elements together in ways that create balance, harmony, and dynamic movement. I look for images that have an interesting surface texture, an organic shape, or a color that will compliment another. I try to look for images that when cut out will be unidentifiable. Those images that are still too obvious as to what their original form was, I disfigure them to create a completely new image.
